Still-Life Painting, a valuable lesson.
Still Life Painting is a style of painting I have never been drawn to until lately. I was forced to explore this style with my advanced Oil Painting group and now I have a different respect for the process. Still Life helped me to slow down and really look at the subtle differences in the value, hue, intensity, and temperature of the colors I was seeing. We painted settings from each primary color group to reinforce our color skills. This was such a valuable exercise. Please don't be like I was, don't shy away from setting up a Still Life and going for it. I intend to paint many more of these with my own arrangements. I spent a couple hours yesterday hunting Goodwill Stores for one of a kind little pieces for my compositions. I was surprised at the sweet French and German cups I found for .25 cents each, now you can't beat that!
Here is a sampling of my new cups, my yellow color project, and my recent Still Life of little red Cowboy Boots. Hope you recognize these cups in a future painting : )!
